Triangles Work: Tuesday/ Wednesday 20th/ 21st of August

Hi Triangles

I'm not sure when you will get to this work (Tuesday or Wednesday?) but I want it up ready for you just in case.

To be at the national standards for mathematics in fractions work you need to have a really good understanding of equivalent fractions and how to quickly identify them. Why? Because they help you then convert fractions to decimals and percentages really quickly which is important.

In this work I want you to consolidate your knowledge of equivalent fractions. Once you have this perfect we can move you on to harder stage 8 work.

Good luck!

Once done work on these- to do question 13 you need to pay attention to the information in the pink bubble.

Done??
Then see Whaea Jenny for a Figure it Out book and the follow up work in that.

Great stuff!

Pentagons Tuesday 20th of August

Hi guys
We haven't done blog work for a while as we have been doing lots of whole class stuff for science fair. Today we start on fractions work (yay!). The key to success here is to remember the simple rules you have been taught about fractions and then use your multiplication/ division knowledge to help you along the way.

Today we learnt that to add/ subtract fractions we can only do so if they share a common denominator. So if adding/ subtracting fractions we must first find equivalents so the denominator is equal.

Try your hand at this work today- please follow in order as there should be enough to last you until tomorrow.

Once done work on these word problems:

Finally speedsters go on to this work from the National Curriculum Maths book:

Whew! A LOT of work here- be very proud of yourself that you got through it all. Hand your book in for marking now (put it open on my desk) and I will check your progress. This work is stage 8 work so well done you!

Triangles Follow-up Work: Tuesday 9th July

Hi Team

Yesterday we went over some of the fundamental rules of geometry:
-angles on a straight line add up to 180 degrees
-angles around a point add up to 360 degrees
-vertically opposite angles are equal

Use this knowledge to solve these questions.

Cirlces Work: Monday 8th July

Last week we learnt about translations and how to use coordinates to plot translations. So you remember how to plot them in a pair of brackets?? (left/right, up/down)

Complete this work below using your knowledge of translations.

Now I want you to work on these simple translations. Use coordinates to describe the movement of the shaded in shape to the empty shape position.
