24 Little Hours

What a 24 hours! It was so awesome to meet so many of you yesterday evening. I really enjoyed the picnic under the trees and it was a pleasure to show you our learning space.

We have had a hectic day in Room 7 today! We had our first KEGs session (Kids Edible Gardens) with Fay plus planned for assembly tomorrow, as well as carrying on with learning by way of reading (activating prior knowledge today), writing (activating nouns for effect), maths, and integrated studies (meeting the NIS 4 C's). Needless to say there were lots of interruptions and a very tired (sleepwalking- ask the kids) teacher!

I am hoping that tomorrow we can finally get some STUDENT work up here. In the meantime I have a request to ask.

For KEGs the students will spend time in the garden each week for 3 weeks before we pass on the care to another class. As the extension class I would like to carry this learning beyond three weeks and am looking into creating a inquiry unit and action plan that will allow this. We are lucky with the parent connections in Room 7 and I think I may have an ear to the ground about a grant that we may be able to apply for too. In the mean time if you have any of the following lying around that you would care to donate/ lend please let me know....

-Drums/ mussel bouys etc. for raised herb gardens.
-Anything to help us combat our bird problem- netting etc.
-Garden stakes (our tomatoes are a bit unruly!)
-and a watering can.

Just send them along to school and I will put them where they need to be.

Attached are some photos that Hazel and Maddy took in the garden today.
